Inter DPS “On the Spot Painting Competition (Common Wealth Games-2010 Special)for classes VII-XII was held at DPS-Gandhinagar, for the West Zone schools under the aegis of DPS-Society on Wednesday, 28th April,2010.
Two students per school one from VIII-IX and one from X-XII from following schools participated in the competition:-

The ambience for the show was created by decorating the school in rainbow colours that lent a festive aura to the school. Eminent personalities with proven records in the field of fine arts graced the occasion with their benign presence and motivated the students for their performance in the competition.
The invitees were:-
1. The Chief guest - Mr. Ratan Parinu
(Director of L. D. Art museum and former dean of Baroda University. )
2. Hon’able Judges
Mr. Jitu Ogani – Professor (Sheth C. N. Fine Arts College, Ahmadabad)
Mr. Nilesh Siddhpura – Asst. Professor (NIFT – Gandhinagar)
The opening ceremony of the competition began at 9:30a.m. with the lighting of the lamp and evoking the blessing of the almighty with ganesh shloka and stuti followed by a prayer dance.
All the participating teams were welcomed and requested to introduce themselves.
The topics for the competition were
1. The opening ceremony of the Common Wealth Games
2. Scene of a stadium during a Match
The competition started at 10:15 am and saw its culmination at 12:45 pm. The competition area changed into a canvas where the imagination, creativity and enthusiasm of the students could be easily witnessed. The Paintings expressed emotions, sentiments, heart and soul of each student through their work of art.
VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
The highlight of the valedictory function was the mesmerizing dance performance by the students of DPS Gandhinagar, the host school. Hon’able judge declared the result of the competition and Praised the students and teachers for the heart rendering performances. The judges were honored With mementos, as a token of gratitude, by the principal.
