
DPS Gandhinagar saw its first Cultural Fiesta on 29th January’10. There could not have been better platform for young students to show case their talent than this cultural bonanza.
The curtain was raised at 9:30 a.m. beginning with an eye catching performance of class V students. The programme started with a prayer dance followed by lighting of the lamp by the chief guest of the day Mr. l.M. Asthana, DGM Ahmedabad, City Region, Bank of Baroda, Shri J. P. Suthar, Branch Manager, Infocity, Bank Of Baroda, honorable trustee of DPS Gandhinagar Mr. Apoorava Goenka, Principal Ms. Rani Chaudhary and the headmistress Ms. Florence Manohar.
Folk dance, dance showing the spirit of India and orchestra were the attraction of the show. The first slot ended with an encouraging speech by the chief guest.
Second show started at 11:45 a.m. 203 students of class I and 215 students of class II rocked the stage with their sizzling performances. The show was full of variations – some students danced on western beats, some had Indian touch, some sang song drawing messages of environmental sensitivity and some performed action on heart touching songs which brought tears to the eyes of the spectators. January month saw the festivals of all months in a 10 minutes performance of class I students. Pompoms, umbrellas, glitters and sprays were used to add new flavour to the fest. Mesmerized parents could not stop themselves from clapping.
The 2 hours show proved the Einstein law of relativity that great time of enjoyment seems to pass away very quickly.
The third and final performance of the fiesta started at 4:00 p.m. The hall was packed to capacity 475 students of class III and IV brought the audience their feet with their uninhibited performance. Songs, dance, dramas, fashion show, medley were the flavours of the day. The magic happened when a student of class IV presented a mesmerizing song with beautiful dancers in the background. Guest of the show Mr. Pankaj Kumar IAS, Vice Chairman & M.D. Gujarat Maritime Board had words of praise for all the students.
The show ended with the award presentation ceremony where the best performance of the year was awarded with trophies and certificates by the guests.
This cultural fiesta was an endeavour of the teachers to bring all the students on stage and give them a chance to show their talent.
Curtain was pulled down at 6:30 p.m. with a promise of rekindling the flame of cultural fiesta next year. |
